Description: This lesson encourages students to employ viewing, speaking, listening and writing as they use the images on conversation cards to create and develop ideas for mystery stories. Note: This lesson is similar in structure to E014 Narrative Elements, but is specific to mystery stories.

  • a brief explanation about the role and relevance of the element within a mystery story

  • an extensive teaching example from a Conversation card showing how to use the card as a stimulus for working with the element

  • an opportunity for students to collaborate, speak and write as they explore their thoughts and ideas about mystery stories

• suggestions for next steps in the story writing process
